Where do covalent bonds usually exist? between non metals
What kinds of inorganic compounds are there? acids, bases, and salts
What are the characteristics acids? sour taste, corrosive in aqueous solutions
What do acids dissociate into? H+ ions and a metal; usually occur with ionic compounds
What do solutions with low pH have? a high H+ ion concentration
What is neutralization? reaction between an acid and a base in forming salts

What happens to litmus paper if the solution is a base? it turns from red to blue
What are the characteristics of bases? taste bitter, feels slippery, in aqueous solutions bases form/dissociate in OH (hydroxide ions)
pH's of bases are? 7.1-14
What are salt like? taste salty, when placed in water, they usually dissolve easily, highly reactive in water
